Uzbekistan and Malaysia discuss increasing regular flights

Kuala Lumpur hosted a meeting between the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Transport Ministry leadership and the CEO of the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) Izham Ismail.

At the meeting, the Malaysian side got acquainted with the measures taken in Uzbekistan to support civil aviation enterprises, accelerate transformation processes in this area and further diversify aviation services.
 
The delegation of Uzbekistan held a presentation on the airport development strategy in the country, including the new Samarkand International Airport and the “Open Skies” regime introduced there on October 1.

In addition, detailed information was provided on the ongoing reforms for further development of the tourism sector in the country, including subsidizing tourism entities and air carriers for organizing charter flights from other states, as well as implemented projects to strengthen the status of Samarkand as the “Tourist Gateway of New Uzbekistan”.

Izham Ismail, highly appreciated the large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in the above areas, noted the interest of Malaysia Aviation Group in establishing and developing cooperation with partners from the republic.

In particular, he welcomed the resumption of Uzbekistan Airways flights between the countries from November 2022. In this regard, the willingness of Malaysia Airlines to cooperate with Uzbek airlines under a code-share agreement was noted and a request was made to increase the frequency of their regular flights.

Malaysia Aviation Group is a Malaysian aviation holding operating in such business segments as air transportation, ground services, aircraft leasing and training.
