Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Turkmenistan

On October 20-21 this year, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit Turkmenistan.

This was announced on October 16 during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, which was chaired by the president.

During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the work being done to prepare for the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan, which is scheduled for October 20-21.

“One of the priority directions of our foreign policy is the strengthening and expansion of fruitful relations with neighboring countries. Among them is Uzbekistan, with which Turkmenistan develops mutually beneficial cooperation in a wide range of areas. Together with the Uzbek side, a draft program of the visit has been prepared, during which the signing of a package of bilateral documents is envisaged,” Meredov said.

Summing up the report, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the invariably friendly, good-neighborly nature of the Turkmen-Uzbek relations, based on historical ties and the common spiritual and cultural values of the two peoples. In the modern era, “these good traditions that have developed over the centuries have received a worthy continuation, constantly enriching with new content.”

Developing fruitful cooperation in a bilateral format, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are also constructively interacting on a multilateral basis, within the framework of the UN and other international and regional organizations, providing mutual support to each other. Regular contacts at the highest, governmental and departmental levels contribute to the comprehensive strengthening of interstate partnerships.

In this context, the head of Turkmenistan instructed the vice-premier, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure a high organizational level for the upcoming official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the country.
