DP World may set up a logistics center near Tashkent
The company is also considering participation in infrastructure and e-commerce projects.
DP World discussed with the MIFT the prospects for the implementation of a number of investment projects in the areas of logistics, infrastructure and e-commerce, the ministry reported.
The MIFT hosted the delegation of the UAE company on October 20. The guests got acquainted with the investment opportunities of Uzbekistan, benefits, preferences and legal guarantees for foreign investors.
The parties identified the most attractive areas for the company’s work in the Uzbek market. Among them are complex transport and logistics services, including the creation of logistics hubs and optimization of supplies, as well as the development of free economic zones.
Representatives of DP World expressed their interest in building a modern logistics center in the Tashkent region. The MIFT promised to provide the company with comprehensive support.
MIFT and DP World entered into a framework agreement at the end of 2021, at the Dubai Expo 2020 exhibition. The company expressed its intention to create a new logistics center in Uzbekistan, take part in the development of the Navoi FEZ and provide access to its online system.
Also, partners from the UAE expressed their intention to launch an e-commerce platform in Uzbekistan and make it the most popular in the region. Together with it, it is planned to create a new fintech service.
