Criminal group dealing with drug trafficking detained in Surkhandarya

In total, during operative events, 11 people were detained, from whom almost 12 kg of hashish were confiscated.

Employees of the Surkhandarya Regional SSS Department, together with the Customs Department and the Regional DIA, stopped the activities of a cross-border criminal group engaged in drug trafficking from Afghanistan to Uzbekistan through Tajikistan, UzA reported.

Thus, during an operative event in the Sariasiya district, a Lacetti car was stopped, two passengers of which were previously convicted. When the car’s passenger compartment was inspected, 670 grams of hashish were found there.

It turned out that the drug was purchased for $2.8 thousand from a resident of the Sariasiya district, who was previously convicted of a crime related to the sale of narcotic drugs. Later, he was also detained.

In another case, a Nexia-2 car was also stopped and inspected at the Darband traffic police post in the Baysun district, in the cabin of which 9 kg 410 grams of hashish were found.

It turned out that the drugs were brought by Tajik drug couriers to the territory of the Uzun district and were intended for further sale in the Samarkand region.

During the continuation of the operation, three more residents of Samarkand and Andijan were detained in the Nurabad district while receiving part of these drugs. Another 964 grams of hashish was found at the home of a resident of the Denau district.

In total, during the operative events, 11 people were detained, from whom 11 kg 44 grams of hashish were confiscated.

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against all the above citizens. An investigation is underway.
