Uzbekistan’s population nearing 36 million
The State Statistics Committee has provided data on the demographic indicators of the country.
According to the committee, as of October 1, 2022, the population of Uzbekistan is 35.8 million people; 18 million of them are men and 17.8 million – women.
The committee noted that 18.2 million resident population lives in urban areas, while 17.6 million people live in rural settlements.
Over the period between January and September 2022, 681.8 thousand births were registered in the country; the number of deaths was – 130.4 thousand.
During the reporting period, about 197 thousand marriages were recorded; divorces amounted to 36.5 thousand.
