Uzbekistan, together with South Korea, will begin developing a platform for environmentally friendly agricultural machinery, Spot reports with reference to the press service of the Innovation Ministry.

Recently, representatives of the ministry, employees of the UzTEST center and the khokimiyat of Chirchik met with specialists from the Korean engineering industry. The parties discussed the development of a master plan for the project and the creation of research centers in Uzbekistan.

As part of the project, it is planned to transfer agricultural machinery from diesel to more environmentally friendly natural gas. The vehicles will be equipped with modern safe gas-balloon equipment (SPG-4).

The total cost of the project is $13 million, of which $10 million will be provided by the Korean government under the ODA program, and another $3 million by Uzavtosanoat.

The project will be implemented by the Korean Institute of High Technology (KIAT).

In February, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the creation of an agricultural machinery cluster in Chirchik. The Tashkent Tractor Plant is moving there, which will be joined by Tashselmash, Chirchikselmash, Tekhnologstan and a number of other enterprises.

The launch of the cluster is scheduled for 2023. The head of state also instructed in the future to develop a new local model of the tractor and stop producing obsolete models.
