A woman who tried to sell her two-day-old baby for $35,000 sentenced to 5 years in prison
The Bektemir district court on criminal proceedings announced a verdict on a woman who attempted to sell her baby for $35,000. This was revealed in a video broadcast on Uzbekistan24 TV channel.
It is known that the defendant offered to give birth to the 7-month-old fetus in the womb by caesarean delivery in order to get money from an acquaintance.
But the person who wanted to buy the baby said that she would get the baby after 9 months and would not pay until then.
“According to the defendant, she wanted to sell the baby to her friend due to poor financial situation,” the report said.
It also turned out that the woman did this to get out of a difficult financial situation, as she does not have her own house and permanent job, she has a grandmother and a 6-year-old child to take care of.
The Bektemir district court read out the verdict on the situation and found the woman guilty under Paragraph “a” of Article 135-3 of the Criminal Code. The woman was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment based on Article 57 of the Criminal Code.
