A mother who sold her child for 5.7 million soums arrested in Syrdarya
The woman was forced to sell because of debts from pharmacies and her child’s nanny.
According to the information service of the Supreme Court, a woman in the city of Gulistan, Syrdarya region, sold her minor daughter, who lives with her, to an acquaintance for 5 million 700 thousand soums.
The defendant said at the court session that she had no intention of selling her child, that she was in financial difficulty, had no place to live, and could not earn money for his child’s food. She also stated that she was forced to sell her child in order to pay off these debts due to the fact that she was in debt to pharmacies and her child’s nanny.
The case regarding this situation was considered in the Gulistan city court on criminal proceedings. The woman who preferred to sell her child was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment by the court under the relevant clause of the Civil Code.
