The country’s index score was 5.6. The lower the index, the less the country is at risk of famine; in Uzbekistan, the level of hunger is assessed as low.

Seventeen countries at the top – Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, China, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey and Uruguay – have index scores below 5, meaning the level of hunger in these countries is negligible.

GHI ranks countries from the safest to the most prone to hunger.
