“Parents’ attitude towards teachers should change” – Shavkat Mirziyoyev

“We no longer have a problem with the number of teachers, now the focus is on quality,” the president said at a meeting on Thursday.

“We are not doing enough to improve cooperation with parents of young children. Their attitude towards schools and teachers should change.

I study the South Korean module of reforms a lot. They were a poor country in a very difficult situation 50-60 years ago. Today, this small country with no gold, no copper, and no oil is among the leading economies of the world. It is an absolute leader in terms of modern technologies. They too have been through hard times. If a student does not go to school, they knock on the door and tell the parents, “You are doing something against society.” Unfortunately, we are not working like that.

This is how we should work in cooperation with parents. How can we help a child if his parents do not care about his education? Parents work to earn, that’s right, but children's education and upbringing must be the first priority,” the president said.
