Mirziyoyev dismisses head of the Agency for Development of Pharmaceutical Industry
Shavkat Mirziyoyev sharply criticized the healthcare system after the recent incident with Doc 1 Max syrup, which caused the death of 20 children in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting on Friday, the president talked about the healthcare system and sharply criticized officials for shortcomings in their work, especially their negligence which led to the death of children after taking the India-made Doc 1 Max syrup.
“The death of children in Samarkand and Kashkadarya showed the state of affairs in the system, lack of control. Today I fired the head of the Agency for Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, Sardor Kariyev. All officials responsible for the incident will be held accountable before the law,” the president said.
Sardor Kariyev has been in charge of the agency since 2019. Prior to that, he headed the pharmaceutical company Jurabek Laboratories for almost 15 years.
