A 20-year-old conscript dies in military unit of Tashkent region
First, the military told the parents that the guy had committed suicide, then they said that he had been shot.
As Kun.uz was informed by the PGO press service, on January 11 at about 10:15, a conscript shot himself in the head with an AKS-74 assault rifle. He died at the scene.
It is noted that the medical staff of the military unit immediately took him to the central clinical hospital of the Defense Ministry.
“Currently, the Tashkent Military Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an inspection,” the supervisory authority said.
Relatives of the deceased said in an interview about the suspicion that the young soldier was beaten to death.
“We escorted our son Mirjalol Imamov to military service on May 4 last year. On January 11, at 17:30, the military called my husband and said: “Your son shot himself”. The father was shocked and speechless. Then, I picked up the phone and said: “What are you saying, my son is not one of those who shoot himself,” the caller said: “We detained six or seven soldiers, and now the investigation is underway. Your son was shot”. That is, at first he said that my son had shot himself, then he said that he had been shot. The last time my son called on the morning of New Year’s Day and said that God willing, he would return in March. When I asked for the exact date, he did not say and noted that it would be a surprise,” the mother of the deceased said.
According to relatives, there are various injuries on the body of the deceased. In particular, his two front teeth were broken and the upper part of his eyebrow was cracked. Based on this, they suspect that Mirjalol could have been beaten to death.
The Ministry of Defense also reported that a forensic medical examination was appointed, prosecutors are conducting an appropriate check.
