PGO comments on reports of gang rape of a girl in Khorezm

According to the PGO press service, an investigation is being conducted by employees of the Yangiarik district DIA.

During the investigation of the case, 8 people were involved as suspects, three as accused. Three have been taken into custody.

Also, as part of the criminal case, a number of comprehensive examinations are being performed, a detailed interrogation of the defendants in the case is being carried out.

“After carrying out all the necessary investigative actions, a conclusion will be made within the framework of the law. The investigative process is under the control of the Prosecutor General’s Office,” the supervisory authority concluded.

Earlier, it was reported that in August 2022, 11 men raped an underage girl (born in 2006) in the Yangiarik district, Khorezm region.

A woman from Khorezm stated that no one reacted to this incident, no measures were taken and “for 8 months no one paid any attention to us”.

Later, the Children’s Ombudsman responded to the incident.
