“Uzbekistan will continue to cooperate with Russia, despite Western sanctions” – Consul General

This was stated at a press conference by Consul General of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don Burkhan Alikulov, answering a question from a DON 24 correspondent.
The diplomat stressed that Uzbekistan will continue cooperation with Russia, despite Western sanctions.
Burkhan Alikulov explained that Russia has always been a priority in trade and economic relations and is the main economic partner. Over the past year, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia amounted to $9.3 billion. Burkhan Alikulov noted that this is the largest indicator of trade turnover for the republic.
“We proceed from the national interests of citizens. Therefore, I think that in economic terms and in other areas, our relations will continue,” the Consul General said.
He also said that about 3,000 citizens of the republic are expected to take part in the referendum on the updated Constitution of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don.
Earlier, it was reported that EU Special Representative for Sanctions David O’Sullivan said he intended to visit Uzbekistan to discuss issues related to anti-Russian sanctions.
