Yesterday, April 12, The Jakarta Post reported that three Uzbek citizens escaped from a detention center in Indonesia.

Allegedly, three suspects fled from an immigration center in northern Jakarta early Monday morning after attacking officers, including members of an anti-terrorist squad, with a knife stolen from a pantry.

During the escape, a migration officer was killed and three others were seriously injured.

The police immediately launched a search for the men. As a result, two were arrested. At the same time, one of the men drowned after jumping into the river.

“During the initial interrogation, we established that they planned to escape after they were visited by the Uzbek consular officers. They did not want to be deported because they faced a harsh sentence in Uzbekistan,” a police spokesman said.
