Uzbekistan intends to increase gold production to 150 tons per year, said First Deputy Minister of Mining and Geology Omonullo Nasritdinkhodjaev during the session “Actual Challenges of International Cooperation in Metallurgy and Mining” within the framework of INNOPROM.

The republic is considered one of the largest producers of gold – now it mines about 105 tons of gold every year.

In addition, by 2030, Uzbekistan is planning to double the volume of uranium production from 3.6 thousand tons to 7 thousand tons.

Nasritdinkhodjaev also noted that Uzbekistan has several large coal deposits, which makes it possible to produce about 5 million tons of fuel per year.

“We plan to increase the production volume to 10 million tons, including by increasing production volumes at existing fields and involving new fields in production with the involvement of foreign investors,” he said.

It should be recalled that in 2020, Uzbekistan produced 101.6 tons of gold. Compared to 2019, the figure increased by 7 tons.

On January 11 of this year, Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of projects to expand coal and uranium production. Then it became known that coal reserves in Uzbekistan amount to about 2 billion tons. The head of state set the task of effectively using this potential and consistently increasing production volumes.

On July 14, 2022, a presidential decree was adopted to increase the volume of uranium mining and processing at the Navoiuran state enterprise. In particular, measures have been identified to double its production to 7.1 thousand tons by 2030.
