EBRD annual meeting in Samarkand to be held on May 16-18
The event will discuss the “green” economy, digitalization, trade and other topics.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has announced the date of its 32nd annual meeting and business forum in Samarkand.
The events will be held from 16 to 18 May under the theme Investing in Resilience. The participation of officials, heads of the financial and business sectors, representatives of the world media and public organizations is expected.
One of the main events of the meeting will be a session on the investment prospects of Uzbekistan. It will discuss the growth expectations of the country’s economy and opportunities for investment.
Also, the program of the three days of the event includes a number of discussion panel sessions with experts on a wide range of topics. Among them:
ꞏ international trade;
ꞏ energy security, renewable energy sources;
ꞏ short and long term challenges, in particular for Ukraine;
ꞏ the importance of small and medium-sized businesses for the economy;
ꞏ digitalization in emerging markets;
EBRD Green Cities Program;
ꞏ Regional Economic Prospects – EBRD flagship macroeconomic study, etc.
The event will bring together experts on topics such as digital connectivity, investment in sustainable energy, financial inclusion, support for agribusiness, and others. Sessions will focus on both regions and individual countries.

It is noted that in 2022 the bank allocated almost $900 million for Uzbekistan for 26 projects, including several large-scale green energy projects. Also, with his participation, the sessions of the Council of Foreign Investors, a “platform for dialogue” between foreign business and the government, were launched.
