Referendum day in Uzbekistan: Citizens and officials are voting at polling stations
At 08:00, the national anthem was played at the referendum polling stations, and the voters began to make their choices.
A referendum on the new version of the Constitution began in Uzbekistan on April 30 at 08:00. Voting in polling stations will continue until 20:00.
A total of more than 10,700 polling stations were established throughout the republic. 19.7 million citizens are included in the single electronic list of voters.
In the precincts, 100 Q&A sets have been prepared on the draft of the new version of the current Constitution and the Basic Law, as well as on the proposed changes. The full text of the draft document, along with individual clauses of the proposed new version of the Constitution, was also displayed at the stands.
Voters must answer one question on the ballot: “Do you accept the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan?” It is necessary to select one of two answers: “Yes” or “No”.
Citizens’ activity has been observed in the polling stations since the early hours.
Navoi region
More than 70,000 voters have voted in Navoi region. As of 09:00, 71,455 voters in Navoi region came to polling stations and exercised their constitutional rights.
411 referendum precincts were established in the region and the number of voters was 621,679. 18,225 of them are participating in the referendum for the first time. 8,241 voters voted early.
Jizzakh region
Voting is also taking place in Jizzakh region. Citizens have been participating in the voting process since early morning. Among them, you can see old women and men with young children.
For information, 785,494 voters were registered in a total of 522 referendum precincts organized in 1 city and 12 districts in the Jizzakh-4 precinct.
