A video showing an internal affairs officer using force against a citizen in Muzrabat district (Surkhandarya region) was circulated. The information service of the Regional DIA commented on the case.
In the video, a citizen can be seen lying in a special room reserved for men, with his hands and feet tied, and then a DIA officer entered there and after talking for a while, hit the man on the head and face with his hand. The officer left the room several times and re-entered and filmed the man. Meanwhile, more force was used on the man and he was also gagged. According to the DIA, the incident took place on May 7 at 01:10. Citizen S.S., who lives in “Shaffof” mahalla of the district, called the district DIA and said that a stranger came to her house and kicked her door many times (the regional prosecutor’s office stated that the man is from the “Yangihayot” mahalla of this district).
It is noted that when the district IIB officer M.A., who was involved in night duty on that day, visited the caller’s address, the citizen of U.P. (man) did not comply with the legal requirement of the officer due to the state of strong alcohol intoxication (he fled from the scene – prosecutor’s office).
The officer found him and took him to the inter-district center for medical assistance to persons in a state of alcohol intoxication.
“The DIA officer acted decisively in order to pacify U.P., because disturbed the peace of the patients being treated in the medical association, disobeyed the legal requirements, and continued to insult him with rude words,” the DIA explained the situation.
Currently, a service check is being carried out by the Regional DIA and the district prosecutor’s office regarding the officer’s actions.
