Uzbekistan makes proposals to solve a queue problem at Kazakh border 

A bilateral traveling meeting of the customs services of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was held. First Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan Ilhom Mukhtorov and Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee under the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan Bakitjan Slyamov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Beybut Atamkulov, representatives of the border control management of both countries took part in it.

Initially, the parties held negotiations at the border-customs post "Jibek-Joly" of Kazakhstan, where the main attention was focused on the traffic of cargo vehicles observed at the Uzbek-Kazakh border crossing points these days. At the same time, the harvest season has begun in our country, and the export of agricultural products will increase day by day until November. As a result of these factors, a total of about a thousand freight vehicles are congested at the Uzbek-Kazakh border crossing points these days.

The meeting participants arrived at the border customs posts "Gishtkuprik", "Yallama", "Sirdaryo", "Malik", "Ak Altin" checkpoints of Uzbekistan, and the border customs posts "B. Konysbayev", "Atameken" of Kazakhstan, closely communicated with drivers standing in a queue. The parties discussed in detail the proposals aimed at solving the problem quickly.

The Uzbek side is putting forward a proposal to switch the "Malik" (Uzbekistan) - "Sirdaryo" (Kazakhstan) checkpoint, which operates mainly during the day, to a 24-hour regime, as well as to cancel restrictions on the citizenship of drivers and the country where the vehicle is registered. For this purpose, a draft of amendments to the agreements signed between the two countries in 2001 has also been developed.

A proposal to increase the throughput of freight vehicles through the border-customs posts "Yallama" (Uzbekistan) - "B. Konysbayev" (Kazakhstan) to 700 vehicles per day was also put forward. For this purpose, additional efforts and means, in particular, advanced information technologies, will be extensively attracted.
