The agreements were reached during bilateral talks between the aviation authorities of the two countries in Tashkent, on the sidelines of the China–Central Asia (C5+1) Civil Aviation Cooperation Working Group Conference, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport reported.

The Kazakh delegation was led by Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee at the Ministry of Transport, while Uzbekistan was represented by Jamoliddin Nazarov, head of the Air Transport Department at its Ministry of Transport.

The discussions focused on expanding air connectivity, increasing the frequency of scheduled services and improving the availability of air travel between major cities in the two countries.

Under the agreements, the permitted number of weekly frequencies will increase to 60 on each of the Almaty–Tashkent and Astana–Tashkent routes.

The two sides also agreed to raise the permitted frequency on all other routes between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan from 14 to 20 flights per week.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport said the changes would increase capacity on the most popular routes.
