A record for daily electricity consumption has been set in Uzbekistan, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.
On June 13, 231.7 million kWh of electricity was used in the country, a record figure for June. Compared to the same level last year, consumption increased by 14.7%.
On June 14, until 11:00, hourly electricity consumption amounted to 11 thousand MW, which exceeds the figure for the same period last year by more than 15%.
The Ministry of Energy notes that on June 14, another maximum use of electricity will probably be recorded. According to preliminary estimates, consumption will reach 238-239 million kWh, which is 14.8% more than in 2022.
Even on the hottest summer day last year, daily light consumption did not exceed 10.8 thousand MW, and the maximum daily use reached 238.2 million kWh.
High electricity consumption is also observed in Tashkent. For example, on June 13, the capital used 26.4 million kWh, although in 2022 consumption amounted to just over 17 million kWh.
High demand for electricity with an increase in temperature leads to an increase in the load on electrical networks and transformer points, as a result of which various malfunctions occur. In particular, anomalous heat increases losses in the power system, the department notes.
In this regard, the Ministry of Energy asks residents to save electricity and use electrical appliances rationally.
In recent days, cases of power outages have become more frequent in Tashkent. Rolling blackouts in different parts of Tashkent began on June 8, when eight districts lost electricity at once, due to which the supply of cold and hot water was also interrupted in some of them. On June 9, the blackouts affected four districts. On June 10, three districts of the capital were left without electricity, and on June 12, outages were observed in Yakkasaray and Yashnabad districts.
On June 13, rolling blackouts occurred in Sergeli, Mirabad, Yashnabad, Chilanzar, Yunusabad and Yakkasaray districts of Tashkent. On June 14, electricity was partially cut off in four districts of the capital.
