Five people, including children, drowned in canals and rivers in Namangan over a week
Two of the drowned are minors, and one is a 50-year-old man. Currently, the body of only one of the five has been found – a 19-year-old boy.
As the Namangan regional Department of the Emergencies Ministry reported, over the past week, 5 people drowned in canals and rivers in the region. Two of them were aged 12 and 14. It is noted that teenagers swam in the Qoradaryo River of the Naryn district, Uznews writes.
Also, on July 17, a citizen born in 1993 drowned in the Uchkurgan district while swimming in the Andijan canal. On July 23, a 50-year-old man drowned in the Syrdarya River, which passes through the territory of the Pop district.
On July 24, a 19-year-old boy drowned in a canal in the Chartak district. His body was found a day later.
The search for the remaining citizens is currently underway. Search and rescue teams are reportedly on the ground.
