Uzbekistan to introduce zero customs rates for import of medicines and medical products
It was instructed to harmonize customs duties and export subsidies with the terms of the WTO.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree aimed at streamlining the import of various goods to Uzbekistan.
From January 1, 2025, the fee for customs clearance of medicines and other medical goods will be abolished. Now it is 1.2% of their customs value.
In addition, the president instructed to prepare proposals in several areas related to import and export. By October 1, it is planned to develop a project for the automation and digitalization of the issuance of licenses for the import of goods.
No later than November 1, it is required to submit initiatives to bring customs duties for exports and imports in line with the requirements of the World Trade Organization. By January 1, 2024, it was also instructed to prepare a reform of subsidizing transport costs under the terms of the WTO.
