Construction of Tashkent-Samarkand and Tashkent-Andijan toll roads to be accelerated
Deputy Minister of Transport Ilhomjon Abdugafarov met with the project coordinators of the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, a Kun.uz correspondent reports.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the meeting discussed the work done on the construction projects of the Tashkent-Samarkand and Tashkent-Andijan highways on the basis of PPP, current issues, as well as the development of a bill on toll roads.
Highways Committee, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Proyapı Mühendislik ve Müşavirlik A.Ş., Over Arupand Partners International Limited, Price Water House Coopers Advisory, CMS Cameron Mc Kenna Nabarro Olswang LLP exchanged views on the acceleration of project implementation processes.
It should be recalled that during his recent trip to Samarkand at a meeting on the socio-economic development of the region, the head of Uzbekistan drew attention to the importance of creating 20,000 permanent jobs in the tourism sector and bringing exports to $500 million. The necessity of introducing more attractive tours, improving the convenience of using roads and public transport was highlighted.
