American Citibank planning to open a representative office in Uzbekistan

On September 20, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of his stay in New York, received the chairman of the largest American financial corporation Citigroup, John Dugan, the presidential press service reports.

The head of state noted with satisfaction the fruitful interaction with the American corporation, with the assistance of which bonds of Uzbek banks and state-owned enterprises were successfully placed on international stock markets.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also supported Citigroup’s plans to open a representative office of a subsidiary bank of Citibank in Uzbekistan.

In addition, issues of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the development of the banking and financial sector, introducing effective tools to increase the attractiveness and liquidity of securities on the stock market, and attracting foreign investors to the capital market of Uzbekistan were discussed at the meeting.
Agreements were also reached on the adoption of a “roadmap” to expand cooperation with the American corporation, indicating effective mechanisms and specific deadlines for implementation.
