Uzbekistan, UK discuss regional security issues
The Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, met yesterday with the UK Minister of State for the Armed Forces, James Heappey.
According to the Foreign Ministry, during the conversation, the parties discussed the current level of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional security issues, including the development of the situation in Afghanistan.
The British side highly appreciated the efforts of Uzbekistan to develop a consolidated regional position on Afghanistan, establish long-term peace and stability in the country, as well as provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
James Heappey expressed the UK’s readiness to continue to actively cooperate with Uzbekistan in the Afghan direction.
