Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced plans to implement 500 large projects in the fields of infrastructure and industry worth $150 billion, the presidential press service reports.
The head of state noted the connection to the network of six solar and wind stations with a total capacity of 2.4 GW, built by China Gezhouba and Masdar.
The $2 billion projects will produce 6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, saving 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
Also, 2 million households will be provided with continuous electricity, and added value of $4 billion will be created in industry and services.
The President noted that according to forecasts, in the next six years the demand for electricity will increase from the current 83 billion to 120 billion kWh. It is planned to cover the increased demand for electricity through “green” energy, he added.
By 2030, green generation sources will provide 27 GW.
About 50 thousand households and enterprises have already installed solar panels, the state leader noted. There are a total of 7 million homes in the country, creating a large market for foreign investors.
Mirziyoyev said that Uzbekistan is taking the first steps to supply “green” energy to countries in Asia and Europe. Four companies produce solar panels, two companies produce metal structures and about 50 “green” projects create $500 million worth of cable.
Preparations are now underway for the construction of 22 solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 9 GW.
In the next five years, 70 thousand kilometers of low-voltage power grids, 22 thousand transformers, and more than 100 substations will be updated. Also, 10 thousand kilometers of new high-voltage transmission networks will be built in the country.
