SSS officers detain a citizen attempting to sell 10 kg of opium
A resident of the Samarkand region planned to sell expensive bags of cement in Urgench.
During an operative event carried out by employees of the State Security Department for the Khorezm region and customs officials, a truck transporting bags of cement from Samarkand to Urgench was stopped and inspected. The press service of the State Security Service reports.
As a result of the inspection, 9 kg 754 g of opium, packed in 10 bags of cement, were discovered.
It turned out that a 53-year-old resident of the Urgut district, who had previously been convicted three times for drug trafficking, ordered a truck into which he placed bags of cement, having previously hidden bags of opium in them. The drug dealer was going to sell the narcotics in the Khorezm region.
The State Security Service found out that the detected narcotic substances were smuggled from Tajikistan.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under Part 2 of Article 246 (Smuggling) and Part 5 of Article 273 (Illegal production, acquisition, storage and other actions with narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale, as well as their sale) of the Criminal Code. The suspect is in custody.
