The seizure was made during a joint operation by the State Security Service, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Customs Committee, the SSS said.
The medicines, which included 56 different preparations, were found at a private residence in Namangan city. Authorities said the owner, a person born in 1996, had been storing the drugs in breach of sanitary requirements and intended to sell them.
The medicines were not accompanied by the required documentation and had not undergone quality certification. The seized products included cefotaxime, bifidumbacterin, atropine and Tidomet Forte.
Investigators determined that the medicines had been brought into Uzbekistan through unofficial channels from a neighboring country and stored at the house, which was allegedly being used as an illicit warehouse.
The total value of the seized medicines was estimated at UZS 577.381 million. They have been placed in official custody as material evidence.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Article 186-3, Part 3(a), of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing.
