Train hits Gentra car in Surkhandarya, 5 people dead

Two more people were hospitalized. 7 people who died and were injured were members of the same family.

In Shurchi district of Surkhandarya region, a passenger train hit Gentra, which was passing through a railway crossing. As a result, five members of one family died.

Khayot Shamsutdinov, head of the PGO press service, informed Kun.uz that the incident happened on January 31, 2024 at 20:29.

The Sariosiyo-Tashkent passenger train hit a Gentra car passing through an unguarded crossing between Shurchi-Elbayon railway stations and made an emergency stop.

As a result of the accident, 35-year-old Gentra driver B.N. and his 2-year-old son were hospitalized with various bodily injuries.

The driver's 64-year-old mother, 29-year-old spouse and three minor children - a 12-year-old daughter, a 9-year-old son, and a 5-year-old daughter died on the spot.
