Law enforcement bodies prevent circulation of almost 10 thousand counterfeit dollars in Namangan (video)

Employees of the State Security Service stopped an attempt to illegally traffic in counterfeit foreign currency. In particular, in the Pap district of Namangan region, a Honda car driven by a 46-year-old resident of Chinaz was stopped. During the check, it was found out that the man, who was heading to Tashkent, was carrying 4,000 counterfeit dollars.
It turned out that he bought counterfeit money for $2,200 with the aim of selling it in the future from a previously convicted 53-year-old resident of the Yangikurgan district.
During the ongoing operative event, this citizen was detained while exchanging 5,400 counterfeit dollars for real $3,000. The detainee imported counterfeit money through his accomplices in Kyrgyzstan.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated under Paragraphs “b, v”, Article 176-2 of the Criminal Code (Manufacture, sale of counterfeit money, excise stamps or securities, committed on a large scale by prior conspiracy by a group of persons). An investigation is underway.
