Uzbekistan sees 150% increase in gold production since 2016
Last year, payments from NMMC to the budget increased by 20%, and its share in the country's GDP exceeded 6%.
Since 2016, the production volume of gold in Uzbekistan has increased by 2.5 times, and the ore processing volume by 1.6 times, as reported by the press service of NMMC (Navoi Mining & Metallurgy Combinat).
In recent years, NMMC has risen from 7th to 4th place in the list of leading foreign gold producers. Furthermore, the volume of gold produced increased by 25%, and that of silver by 47%. Last year, the company produced goods amounting to 67.5 trillion Uzbek sums, which is 3.8% more than in 2022.
The total payments of NMMC for the year increased by more than 20% to 38.6 trillion UZS, providing 14% of the state budget's revenue.
The company's share in Uzbekistan’s GDP was 6.3%, and in the volume of industrial production, it exceeded 10%. As part of the investment program for 2023, capital investments were allocated to 12 projects worth $473.5 million.
A hydrometallurgical plant, capable of processing 4 million tons of gold-containing ore per year, was launched at the Pistali deposit in the Nurata District.
Additionally, at the Navoi Machine-Building Plant, a new mechanical assembly shop building was erected, high-performance machines were launched, a 25-ton metal smelting furnace was put into operation in the foundry shop, and 82.6 km of new railway lines were constructed.
As part of the localization program, NMMC produced goods worth 629.5 billion UZS, and through inter-industry industrial cooperation, local enterprises purchased products worth 5.5 trillion UZS.
