Newly opened bridge in Karakalpakstan temporarily closed
A bridge in Karakalpakstan, opened at the end of February, was temporarily closed for “additional crossing equipment,” the press service of Uzbekistan Railways reported.
“In connection with the planned additional work on equipping the railway crossing on the section between the Kipchak – Checkpoint stations in the Amudarya district, on May 7, 2024 from 14:00 to May 9, 2024 at 14:00, the movement of vehicles on the combined bridge will be temporarily suspended,” the message says.
The company asked drivers to use the nearby Kipchak pontoon bridge during the work.
It should be recalled that a 423 m long bridge across the Amudarya River in the Amudarya district with a railway was opened on February 29. Its construction was initiated by the President of Uzbekistan in December 2020.
