Major petrochemical project in Bukhara region nearing completion

Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reviewed the construction of the petrochemical cluster in the Bukhara region, according to a press release from the department.

Acting Deputy Head of the Chamber Umid Pazilhanov and the newly appointed head of the Bukhara regional branch Shokhrukhali Sadillaev inspected the progress at the site. The joint Uzbek-Iranian venture, Petrochem Sepehr, is constructing the facility.

The project's cost is estimated at $274 million. The future cluster is set to implement over 10 projects and employ around 600 people.

The facility will produce pentane and hexane, benzene, toluene, dimethyl carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, caustic soda, potassium sulfate, and other products. The total annual production value will be up to $240 million, with approximately one-third ($82 million) designated for export.

The project aims to replace $123 million worth of imported goods. Forecasts suggest the enterprise will contribute 214 billion sums to the budget annually. The plant is expected to be operational by September.

The cluster project was presented to Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to the Bukhara region at the end of May. At that time, it was announced that the complex, with a capacity of 460,000 tons, was expected to launch within two months, by the end of July or early August.
