Uzbekistan's employment efforts result in 1.6 million new jobs in six months
In the first half of 2024, 1.6 million people were employed in Uzbekistan, stated Behzod Musaev, the Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction, at a session of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis.
"In the first half of the year, work began based on the experience of 'Saykhunabad,' 'Uychi,' 'Gijduvon,' and 'Zarbdor.' More than 4,000 neighborhoods were specialized in industry and agriculture, and 1.6 million people were officially employed," he said.
From January to June 2024, 415,000 unemployed citizens addressed employment departments. By the end of the current year, it is planned to provide jobs for 2.4 million people.
In particular, the electronic platform yangiish.mehnat.uz was launched. Through it, 2.9 million people were provided with permanent, seasonal, and temporary work in the first half of the year.
Additionally, assistance was provided in the employment of 11.8 thousand people with disabilities.
At a meeting in the Saykhunabad district of Syrdarya in March, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about the "Saykhunabad experience" in increasing household incomes by utilizing the potential of household and homestead farming. According to him, this experience will be implemented in other regions of the country.
