Law defining procedure for issuing a protection order to children affected by violence approved
It is planned that a protection order will be issued for up to 30 days. At the victim's request, the protection order can be extended by 1 year.
At the 55th plenary session of the Senate, the Law on Protection of Children from All Forms of Violence was approved, according to the press service of the upper house of parliament.
The law establishes that a person who has suffered violence can contact the relevant competent authorities or the court, receive free legal, economic, social, psychological, medical and other assistance in special centers, as well as through a toll-free telephone line.
The procedure for issuing a protection order to children affected by violence is also being established. It is issued by the internal affairs bodies for up to 30 days and handed over to the victim of violence or his legal representative with the participation of an authorized state body.
At the request of the victim of violence or his legal representative, if the threat has not yet been eliminated, the duration of the protection order can be extended by the criminal court to one year.
The law also reflects the right to claim compensation for material damage and compensation for moral damage caused to the victim.
The National Social Protection Agency is tasked with identifying child victims of violence, as well as children who are at risk of violence against them. The Agency is obliged to keep records of them and, where necessary, ensure that individual measures are taken to prevent violence against them.
"The law once again increases the responsibility of parents. Thus, it is stipulated that parents must take care of the lives and health of children, take care of them and protect them from information that has a harmful effect. Physical punishment of children in the process of their upbringing is also prohibited," the Senate noted.
