Uzbek canoe athlete banned for three years for doping violation
Uzbekistan's canoe athlete, Shokhmurod Kholmurodov, has been banned for three years after testing positive for the prohibited substance Clomiphene during a competition.
The violation, which falls under Article 2.1 of the World Anti-Doping Code (presence of a prohibited substance, its metabolites, or markers in a sample provided by an athlete), resulted in Kholmurodov’s suspension under Article 10.2.1 of the code.
During the ban, Kholmurodov is prohibited from participating in both international and national competitions, as well as training camps, until the end of the suspension period. Failure to comply with this rule could result in a lifetime ban.
The World Anti-Doping Code also allows for penalties to be imposed on sports federations or associations in cases of doping violations within their organizations.
