Customs officers seize undeclared jewelry and historic items at Bukhara Airport

Customs officers at Bukhara Airport, in cooperation with Aviation Security Service personnel, detained a man attempting to illegally export precious metal jewelry and cultural artifacts abroad, according to the Bukhara Regional Customs Department.

The individual, who was set to board a Bukhara–St. Petersburg flight, failed to declare the jewelry — which had a total estimated value of 165 million UZS — to customs officers during an oral inspection or in a written passenger customs declaration.

Authorities discovered a total of 37 pieces of jewelry weighing 226.04 grams, as well as 16 historic medals and coins, which exceeded the allowed export limits. The seized items have been temporarily taken into custody as evidence.

Currently, customs authorities are conducting further investigations into the case.
