Uzbekistan repatriates nine children left without parental care in Almaty

Nine Uzbek children who had been left without parental care in Almaty, Kazakhstan, have been returned to Uzbekistan. To help locate their close relatives, the children were handed over to officers of the Main Department for Crime Prevention of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the Dunyo information agency, the children, aged between 6 and 17, were staying at a state-run Center for Supporting Children in Difficult Situations in Almaty.

The repatriation process was coordinated by diplomats from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Almaty in cooperation with the Almaty Department of Education and the children's center. All necessary documentation was completed to ensure the children’s safe return to their homeland.

Upon arrival in Uzbekistan, the children were entrusted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for further steps to reunite them with their close relatives.

As a reminder, earlier this year, 16 underage Uzbek nationals were repatriated from St. Petersburg, Russia. Of those, 11 were returned to their parents, while the remaining children were placed under the guardianship of relatives.
