As a result of joint operations carried out by the Interior Ministries of Turkey and Uzbekistan, three Uzbek nationals – residents of Bukhara, Samarkand, and Navoi regions born in 1982, 1992, and 1970 – were detained in Istanbul and deported.
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul urged victims of these individuals’ actions to contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan or its regional offices.
In addition, six more Uzbeks wanted internationally for crimes including human trafficking, large-scale fraud, and other serious offenses were brought to Tashkent on a special flight from Ankara.
The detainees were escorted by officers of Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Ankara and the Turkish Gendarmerie, and upon arrival, were handed over to Uzbekistan’s Interpol office and law enforcement authorities for further investigation.
