Uzbekistan ranks 70th in global IQ index

Uzbekistan placed 70th out of 126 countries in the 2025 global IQ ranking, which measures average intelligence quotient levels.

According to the International IQ Test ranking, the country’s average IQ score was 96.8. This is higher than last year’s figure of 94.5, but still below the global average of 100.

Among CIS countries, Russia (103.2), Armenia (102.6), Belarus (98.7), Azerbaijan (98.7) and Mongolia (97.3) recorded higher average scores than Uzbekistan. Meanwhile, Ukraine (95.4), Kyrgyzstan (94.9) and Tajikistan (93.6) ranked lower.

The highest IQ levels were recorded in China, South Korea, Japan, Iran and Singapore, while the lowest were reported in Gabon, Angola and Benin.

The ranking reflects the average IQ scores of countries as of 1 January 2025. It is based on the results of 1,352,763 people worldwide who took the same IQ test. The ranking is updated every year on 1 January using data from the previous year.

IQ (intelligence quotient) is a numerical measure of intellectual ability determined through various test methods. The idea of assessing children’s intellectual development with standardized tests was first introduced by French psychologist Alfred Binet, who set 100 as the benchmark level corresponding to age-appropriate knowledge and skills.
