The International Astronautical Congress (IAC) will be held in Samarkand in 2028, the Ministry of Digital Technologies has announced.
As part of the congress, the ministry’s delegation presented an extensive program highlighting Uzbekistan’s achievements in space technologies and future plans.
Strategic meetings were also held with space agencies from Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Discussions focused on joint projects involving the use of digital technologies in space monitoring, agriculture, and environmental protection.
The leadership of the International Astronautical Federation praised Uzbekistan’s scientific potential, the strong interest of its youth in space sciences, and the country’s efforts to develop infrastructure, supporting the initiative to host the 2028 congress in Samarkand.
The current congress in Sydney generated an estimated $27 million for the Australian economy. The IAC in Samarkand is also expected to attract more than 10,000 international guests and, through international exhibitions, deliver significant economic benefits to the tourism, services, and business sectors.
