The metro carried 1,165,550 passengers in a single day, surpassing the previous record of 1,117,061 set on May 8, 2026.
The new academic year began two days earlier for students at all levels at higher education institutions across the country, which the Tashkent Metro said led to a significant surge in demand for public transport, particularly metro services.
Based on monitoring and analysis by specialists, the Tashkent Metro expects passenger numbers to continue rising, reaching 1.2 million a day in October.
The Tashkent Metro plans to identify the 1.2 millionth passenger and present them with a special gift or privilege, describing the initiative as a unique incentive and a symbolic event for passengers.
The operator said it is continuing to upgrade its rolling stock to provide passengers with more convenient and higher-quality service.
