18-year-old man convicted for insulting the president on Instagram
An 18-year-old resident of Ahangaran has been convicted after posting an offensive comment under the president’s photo on Instagram. A linguistic examination concluded that the remark contained insulting language directed at the head of state. During the trial, the defendant admitted guilt and said he had written the comment without considering its consequences.

The Ahangaran City Criminal Court reviewed the case of B.O., an 18-year-old accused of leaving an insulting comment toward the President of Uzbekistan.
According to the case materials, the defendant used his personal Instagram account to post a comment under a photo depicting the first and current presidents of Uzbekistan. The comment contained derogatory expressions aimed at Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
A comprehensive linguistic and political analysis determined that the comment included ideas and statements that were offensive, defamatory, and degrading to the president’s honor and dignity.
When asked why he had written such a comment and what his intentions were, the defendant said he had no specific motive and had posted it thoughtlessly.
The court found him guilty of committing a crime. Under the verdict, he was sentenced to two years of restricted freedom in accordance with Part 3, Article 158 of the Criminal Code.
