Snowfall hits Kamchik pass, MES urges drivers to take precautions
On 4 November, snowfall was reported in the upper part of Kamchik pass. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the Traffic Safety Department, and Qamchiqavtoyol are working to clear the road of snow, prevent icing, and spread a sand–salt mixture. Rescuers are also assisting drivers stranded along the route.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, preventive measures have been intensified due to the ongoing snowfall in the area. Road maintenance teams are continuously cleaning the pavement, preventing ice formation, and applying the sand–salt mixture.
MES rescuers are conducting monitoring operations, removing vehicles stuck on the road to safe areas, and providing necessary technical assistance to drivers.
The ministry urged motorists traveling through the pass to follow these safety recommendations:
- prepare vehicles for winter conditions;
- strictly observe speed limits and safe distance requirements;
- use winter tires;
- follow traffic rules according to weather conditions.
