The Competition Committee of Uzbekistan has launched an inquiry into price increases by mobile communication operators.
According to the committee, requests for information were sent to telecom companies at the beginning of November.
“To date, the data submitted by operators regarding the impact of their expenditures on improving service quality and expanding coverage on current prices are being reviewed.
“If the findings reveal actions that violate competition rules, in particular, signs of coordinated conduct among operators, a formal inspection will be initiated in accordance with established procedures. Should any violations be confirmed, strict measures will be taken in line with existing legislation,” the consumer protection authority said in its statement.
