Energy Ministry reports over UZS 132 billion in gas and electricity theft in November
The Ministry of Energy has identified 289 cases of illegal energy consumption over the past month, resulting in more than UZS 132 billion in damage to the national energy system. More than 500 administrative protocols have also been issued.
According to the ministry, specialists from Uzenergoinspeksiya, working jointly with law enforcement agencies, detected 289 instances of unlawful use of energy resources in November.
Preliminary calculations show that the theft of 26.1 million kWh of electricity – valued at UZS 50.4 billion – and 27.2 million cubic meters of natural gas – worth UZS 82.3 billion – caused total losses amounting to UZS 132 billion 752 million.
In addition, 518 administrative cases were initiated for violations of energy-use regulations.
Case materials have been forwarded to law enforcement agencies for action in accordance with established procedures.
