Mirziyoyeva, who joined relevant officials for the late-night eco-raid, visited one of the greenhouses identified as a source of air pollution. She confronted its manager, explaining that the facility’s operations were unlawful and damaging to public health.

“This is wrong and illegal. You are earning a living, but we all breathe this air. Stop it… People’s health, especially our children’s health, is extremely important,” she told the greenhouse operator.

Earlier in the day, the Special Commission emphasized that efforts to improve environmental conditions would not be temporary. Even if air quality improves, officials stressed, work in this direction must continue consistently and systematically. All levels of leadership were urged to correctly understand the long-term nature of the task.

“Protecting public health is a top priority for the President. We will not stop until this issue is resolved completely,” Mirziyoyeva said during the commission meeting.

The intensified inspections follow a surge in air pollution in Tashkent. One week ago, on 24 November, Mirziyoyeva convened a meeting with government and agency heads to discuss urgent measures to combat the deteriorating air quality. Later that same day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the proposed measures and established a special commission to oversee their implementation.

Since then, the commission has been conducting daily raids across Tashkent city and the wider Tashkent region, targeting facilities found to be contributing to air pollution.
