Uzbekistan Airways issues advisory for travelers planning a visit to Georgia
Starting from 1 January 2026, Georgia will require mandatory health insurance for all foreign nationals entering the country.
According to the press service of Uzbekistan Airways, foreigners who do not have a mandatory health insurance policy covering their entire stay in Georgia will be fined 300 lari (approximately UZS 1.3 million).
The mandatory insurance policy must be issued in English or Georgian. The insurance coverage must apply for the entire duration of the stay in Georgia.
Minimum coverage requirements include:
- emergency outpatient services – at least $5,000
- inpatient treatment (including accidents, injuries, illnesses, evacuation and repatriation) – at least $30,000
There are also additional requirements for those travelling to mountainous regions of the country.
“The document must always be kept with you (either in electronic form on a mobile device or printed on paper). The policy may be requested upon entry to the country or by law enforcement officers within Georgia,” the statement said.
Uzbekistan Airways urged passengers to prepare all necessary documents in advance to avoid difficulties at the border.
